If you are a business owner there is a good chance you have considered paid ad at some point in time.

Are they worth it?

What do I write?

Where do I even start?

These were all questions that went though my mind when I was considering Facebook ads but I was at a loss as to who to trust to find the answers. Then I met Zach Spuckler… and things just felt like a breath of fresh air.

In this review post, I will talk about my experience with Zach’s Facebook Ads Bootcamp for List Building. More specifically, I will be talking about my experience as a participant in the live bootcamp that ran January 15-19, 2024.

Zach does have a recorded version of the bootcamp available year round which is the recording from the most recent live bootcamp. Below I will spill the dirt on why I feel Zach’s bootcamp is the best investment you can make for you business, if you have decided Facebook ads is the way you want to go.

Facebook Ads for List Building Bootcamp Cons

  • Live Bootcamp: Replays only available for 1 year after purchase
  • Only discussed how to make 1 type of ad (free offer to grow email list)
  • I don’t believe the evergreen version of the bootcamp has a Facebook Group (although Zach does have a membership that you can join to mimic the same experience)

Key Takeaway

Whether you spend $10 or $25 on this bootcamp, it is the best quality Facebook Ads course out there. The customer service, the step by step guides, the easy to follow video replays and transcript. The quality of this course if on par (if not exceeded) $500+ courses on the same topic.

Who am I and why should you listen to me?

I’m Alexandria, the mastermind behind Stress Less Enterprises LLC, a small business dedicated to assisting mental health therapists in achieving their full potential through entrepreneurship.

As a private practice owner, business coach, and toddler mom, life gets busy fast as I am often needed in 1,000 different places at once. I understand the importance of maximizing time and resources to achieve success — a big reason why I sought out Facebook ads in the first place.

I created this website and write review posts like this to help fellow mental health therapists get connected to the necessary resources that streamline their work so they can focus on the 20% of work that gets 80% of the results. This way you can spend less time researching and more time doing what you love most.

Because if there is one thing you need to know about me, it is that…

I am obsessed with the idea of helping other mental health therapists learn how to become their own boss so they can make more money and spend more time with their family and friends.

Facebook Ads for List Building Bootcamp (My Experience)

Since my private practice is full, I decided to use my coaching audience for ad testing (target audience = licensed and newly licensed mental health professionals) since I am always looking for new ways to get my name out there, Additionally with coaching, I know that there is an offer available for someone to purchase even if my schedule is not available for 1:1 sessions.

[Side note: this is the beauty of affiliate marketing and digital products….even when your schedule is full, you can still bring in additional income. Perfect for vacations, sick time, and seasonal periods of life like maternity leave and parenthood. ]

At the start of bootcamp (first 24hrs) I was paying $13.73 a lead and by the end of the 48hr test period, Zach helped me get that cost down to $7.85 a lead [lead meaning that someone filled out the form, downloading my freebie and putting their name and email on my newsletter list]. This is not bad at all considering I had seen Google Ads go for $12-$18 per click and that was no guarantee the person would call you.

This translated to me getting roughly 3-4 leads a week with a $7/day ads budget. Which again, not bad if I could spend 30-60 days nurturing that lead and ultimately turning them into a customer.

During the time of the challenge, I was getting on average 3-4 leads a day with my organic SEO costing me $0. At this time is my business, it makes more sense for me to invest my time into SEO then money into ads for cold leads (cold leads = someone who has never heard of me before).

HOWEVER…

I am extremely intrigued at Zach’s lessons on how to use Facebook ads to retarget “warm leads,” aka people who are already familiar with my products, to boost exposure. This lesson however was something that he covered in his monthly membership and was not a part of the bootcamp. [Once I complete Zach’s Not Your Average Membership, I will report back]. I 1000% have no regrets about taking the bootcamp and am thrilled with the knowledge I obtained. I fully believe I will be back to Facebook ads once my business is bigger and can support a larger ads budget.

This retargeting strategy is something I can absolutely see being an asset to my business as it allows me the opportunity to stay “top of mind” without having to create and post new content constantly. It also allows my current people the opportunity to “interact” with me on a daily (maybe even hourly depending on how often they are on social medica) without be flooding their inbox with emails.

Quick Update: When I first wrote this post (January 2024), Facebook ads were too expensive for my coaching niche population. After a few months of strategizing, I ended up signing up for Zach’s monthly membership and have given paid ads a go and have gotten my leads down to under $2/lead. I also am in the process of running experiments with sales ads to promote products, traffic ads to promote blog posts, and retargeting ads. I am currently working on a modified version of Zach’s $15/day ads strategy. I will keep you posted on how it goes.

What is included in The Facebook Ads for List Building Bootcamp?

  • Copywriting — AKA the text of the ad
  • Creating images for your ads
  • How to set up the ad itself in Facebook ads manager
  • His system for testing ads to see how they work
  • A recommended testing and maintenance budget
  • Big picture discussions on how ads can work in your business for audience growth and nurturing
  • Ad analytics 101– the basics of how you know if you have a winner or a flop
  • A sneak peak into what else is possible with ads (note: he does not go into detail on this, just gives highlights. For details he refers to the lessons in his monthly/annual membership offer: Not Your Average Membership
  • The live bootcamp came with a 5 day private Facebook group for questions — I am not sure if this is a part of the evergreen course. I would assume no, but Zach would know best.

What are Lead Generation Ads?

Lead generation ads are a specific type of ad where you promote a freebie which people can download in exchange for their name and email address. This name and email puts them on your email marketing list so you can communicate with them in the future. Since people are more likely to buy from someone they know then a random ad, many businesses like to get someone on their email list so they can send them helpful content and get to know each other before pitching the sale of a product.

As an example, here are two of my most popular freebies (bonus: these were also the same images that I created in the bootcamp and were reviewed by Zach himself):

Can’t make the live bootcamp but want live support from Zach and his team? He offers a membership too.

Here is what you can expect each month in his membership:

  1. An Action Plan/Road Map – Each month, Zach releases a strategic action plan in the form of a PDF, workbook, and/or video training that covers the topic for that month in a way that is easily digestible and equips you to take immediate action. The goal is NOT to cram your brain with a lot of new information, but to teach you ONE new strategy you can use to scale your business and give you clear directions on how to effectively implement it right away.
  2. A LIVE Training on The Monthly Topic Plan – Each month, you can hop on a live training call with Zach (and/or a guest expert) where they teach you everything you need to know about that month’s topic and strategy, so you have a deeper understanding of the content and a clear picture for how you’re going to crush your goals for the month. During the call, you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions you have about the monthly strategy.
  3. An Implementation Week – This part of the framework is what really sets Zach and his team apart from most programs and courses out there (and why bootcamp was such a success for me personally). A lot of different business development resources give a ton of great ideas and mindset tips but rarely a step by step action plan on how to implement the strategies discussed. Zach creates a monthly challenge where he breaks down the tasks from the monthly action plan and drip-feeds them to the community — This dedicated time to take action was the game-changer for me when it came to learning and understanding Facebook ads.
  4. A Live Monthly Group “Coffee, Conversations, and Coaching” Call – Zach hosts live monthly calls called: Coaching, Coffee, and Conversations Chat where you can come and ask all the questions you want/need. Join live or submit your questions in advance– the goal is to help you get unstuck so you can continue to take imperfect action. [He actually hosts 2 a month to accommodate different time zones.]

Facebook Ads for List Building Bootcamp Pricing

This Facebook Ads for List Building Bootcamp is offered in 2 formats: live and evergreen (meaning you can buy the recording at any time).

When I participated in the bootcamp, it was run live from January 15-19, 2024. I paid $10. Note: the live version of this bootcamp is only run a few times a year (I think quarterly but I could be wrong on that).

The evergreen course is the same program (actually it is the recordings from the live event) and it sells for $25 on his website.

In my opinion, the Facebook Ads for List Building Bootcamp price is a STEAL regardless of the format you get it. I don’t know any online educators that sell a 5 day bootcamp for that price, or even close to it. I myself have paid over $900 for similar trainings and the level and quality of customer service did not come close. [Full transparently, I ended up getting a refund for that $900 training before it started because they canceled the coaching program which was a primary goal of my order. Instead they replaced 6 weekly coaching hour calls with one 60-minute live coaching call on a set date that was non negotiable even though I had paid before they made the change. — A different story for a different day. ]

ANYWAY…

It is also important to note that on top of the bootcamp fee, you will be spending about $150-$200 USD “testing budget” to see what ads work for you AND an additional $5-$10/day to maintain your ads.

Refund Policy: When I participated in the bootcamp, Zach was very open with everyone in that if the bootcamp was not for them he was willing to discuss providing a refund. That being said– it is not intended for someone to use the bootcamp and just decided that they didn’t like Facebook ads. This was if someone signed up thinking they were going to learn how to sell physical products or sell products directly on the ads themselves. Long story short– if you have concerns about price, talk to Zach.

Fun Fact: When I was in the bootcamp, I noticed that those who had a target audience of teachers were paying under $1 a lead. No guarantees, but an interesting observation.

Facebook Ads for List Building Bootcamp Competitors

I have seen (and spent) A LOT of money on a multi-thousand dollar therapy marketing program which offer ed Google ads lessons as a part of their 1 year membership. From my experience I thought Facebook Ads were easier to navigate and much more user friendly. With Zach’s guidance I was able to get a firm understanding of Facebook ads in under a week, where as I took months to learn Google Ads and still do not feel confident in the strategies I learned.

That being said, Google ads is a different strategy in the fact that when someone “Googles” something they are actively looking for a solution to their problem, vs when someone sees a Facebook Ad it is usually mid scroll and is not related to something they are actively searching for (aka: a disruptive ad).

The other program, I mentioned briefly above in the pricing section was selling a $900 course (ultimately price dripped to around $500 when they dropped the coaching component) for a similar service. They too advertised teaching how to use your ads for audience growth by promoting a freebie. Since I was refunded and did not participate in the program, I cannot speak to it’s benefits/setbacks. I can say however that even at the $500 price tag, I was extremely nervous of trying Facebook ads especially since I would have to spend more money on an ad budget itself ON TOP OF the $500.

With Zach’s program, I had nothing to lose. If it flopped I was out $10, under $100 if you count the ad spend. In my mind I was spending what I would on a nice dinner out and I was okay with that investment to use as an experiment.

Regardless, the price difference alone is something to really pause about before deciding what program is best for you.

Who is Facebook Ads for List Building Bootcamp right for?

  • Online entrepreneurs selling digital products/services (i.e. coaching, courses, e-books, templates)
  • Business owners who are willing to spend at least $100 in testing and at minimum $150/month to run ads regularly.
  • I can absolutely see how this can be beneficial to a therapy practice, however I pause to give my 100% seal of approval since I have not personally tried it myself. For the cost of the course however, it is a great experiment to run.

Who should avoid Facebook Ads for List Building Bootcamp?

  • Those looking for a get rich quick scheme. There is definitely work involved as attracting new followers in just the beginning of the customer journey. If you are looking for a system to “print money” by putting money into ads and getting an immediate return on investment (ROI), this is not the bootcamp for you. (Zach’s membership goes into more advanced strategies and might be able to better help with getting a good ROI.)
  • Small businesses that cannot afford a learning budget of $150-$200 AND $5-$10/day ads maintenance budget.
