Resources for Private Practice Owners
Running a practice is hard enough. Don’t figure it out alone.
The empty Google Business Profile, the “am I even allowed to say that” moments — I’ve lived those too. This is the resource library I wish someone had handed me when I first started.
Built By a Practice Owner, For Practice Owners
What You’ll Find Here…
Practice Management Tools
EHR platforms, scheduling software, billing systems. I’ve tested most of them while running my own practice, and I share honest breakdowns of what holds up day-to-day.
Rooted in Real Experience:
My recommendations come from tools I’ve used, been recommended, or mistakes I’ve already made, so you don’t have to make them.
Business Foundations
Contracts, insurance panels, documentation compliance, and more. The unglamorous groundwork nobody covers in grad school, laid out in plain language with the caveats that matter for your state.
Getting It Right the First Time:
These are the tools and processes I relied on daily in my own practice. I’m sharing them to save you the time it took me to find them, not offering legal advice.
Directories & Getting Found
Psychology Today, Google Business Profile, niche directories. I break down which listings are worth your time, how to set them up correctly the first time, and what actually moves the needle on getting found.
What Worked for Me:
I built my own visibility from zero, and these are the steps I’d take again if I were starting from scratch today.

MEET THE PRACTICE OWNER BEHIND THIS SITE
I’m Alex Theordor, Private Practice Owner and Copywriter
Before I ever wrote a line of website copy, I was building a private practice of my own. I know the feeling of staring at a blank website, wondering if I was even allowed to call myself a specialist. My copywriting agency grew out of that experience, and it’s why this site exists: to give other practice owners the resources I had to find the hard way.
This site is a free resource library, built practice owner to practice owner. If you’d rather hand off your marketing to someone who nerds out over this stuff, that’s what my copywriting agency is for, and you’re welcome to look into it too.
Don’t take my word for it, hear what customers have to say!

From Medicaid to Private Pay — In Six Months: How a licensed therapist built a private-pay pipeline, launched a coaching brand, and went from scramble mode to strategic clarity — without burning out or starting over.

Once the new website went live, bariatric surgery centers responded. Referrals began to climb. Read the full Body & Mind Counseling case study.

Here is something nobody tells you in graduate school: the hardest part of opening a health or wellness practice is not the clinical work. The clinical work is what you trained for.
